Tennessee Waste to Jobs for State Senator Heidi Campbell

01 — Project details

While working to pass the Tennessee Waste to Jobs Act (SB0269/HB0600), the team struggled to explain how this would benefit Tennesseans and, most of all, how the legislation works. My task was to audit the existing collateral, research other states with similar legislation, and create some simple communication pathways.

02 — Creative process

I worked with UX designer Jess Cohen and the Tennessee Environmental Council team to create a website, a one-page explainer for meetings with legislators, and messaging for articles and executive presentations.

03 — Results

We've gained 4 endorsements from multi-national companies (including Ikea!), 2 letters of support from the mayors of major cities, and are now collaborating with governments from neighboring states on their legislation for the 2026 session.
